OpenFindings
Everyone
should have unrestricted access to usable demographic health information.
Thats the premise behind OpenFindings and the reason CommerceNet
is funding its development.
Currently, unless youre an epidemiologist armed with ICD 9 codes,
its almost impossible to find demographic health information, much
less understand it. OpenFindings takes this complicated data and transforms
it into straightforward graphs that show trends and geographical distributions—making
it easier to see if certain occurrences of a disease are accidental or
if theres an underlying cause for the increased incidence. Eventually,
OpenFindings will also facilitate comparative analyses between types of
diseases, as well as provide a forum where people can have a dialogue about
a particular disease and discuss public health policy.
